PicoNav By Veak Designs!

If you’re unfamiliar with Veak, he’s the mind behind the Vital Pet shell for the Digimon Vital Bracelet. His latest venture, the PicoNav, is currently in its beta stage. To join the beta, you must submit an application; however, Veak hasn’t disclosed the number of testers he’ll accept. Having applied myself, I’ll keep everyone posted on my selection and my experience with the PicoNav.

The PicoNav utilizes an ESP32-based device called the LilyGO, constituting a ground-up project. The game revolves around compact battles and gear collection, deviating from the typical creature evolution focus users have know with the standard Digimon vpet. Veak describes it as a pocket-sized turn-based Pokémon-style battle. The PicoNav emphasizes three primary stats: Food, Stamina, and Mood. The Food stat depletes throughout the day, requiring regular feeding to maintain your PicoNav’s well-being. Neglecting it results in reduced Stamina and Mood, indicated by a blinking LED, a status symbol, and menu color changes.

The standout feature of the PicoNav is its Venture mode, featuring 300 beta levels. Upon completion, a deep dungeon mode unlocks, where collected items and gems are set aside. Players attempt to conquer as many stages as possible within a 15-minute real-world idle time, followed by a Pokémon-style battle.

The PicoNav is slated for an early 2024 public release. Beta testers, once selected, are expected to actively participate in testing and cover the device’s retail cost. While not a downside, it’s crucial information for potential applicants.

In conclusion, the PicoNav is an exciting, community-driven product poised for growth upon its release.
